Helen Eltis: Artist-in-residence

Helen Eltis who will be Rio Chirripo Retreat’s first artist-in-residence is a world renowned British Artist who “fell in love with the beauty of Costa Rica” and has been living, on and off, here for 20 years. She paints in water color and acrylic paint and her artwork is currently on show at The Valanti Gallery at Los Suenos Resort, Jaco. The British Royal Family have her work in their art collection and she is recognized by Christie’s as a “Christie’s Contemporary Artist”. Helen is also a qualified art teacher and she firmly believes that she can teach anyone to paint if they follow her instructions.

Lets take a look at Hellen’s career:

British Water Colorist and Trompe L’Oeil Mural Artis.Was born in Rangoon, Burma in 1955 and spent her early childhood on the island of Madeira and later educated and lived un England until 1989.

 

Graduating St Martin’s School of Art, London with a Frist Class Honors Degree in Fashion y Textile Design. She soon became popular as a water colourist, showing in many of the most prestigious art galleries thoughout England, including Chistie’s Contemporary Art Gallery (London, Bath y tokyo), The Neville Gallery (Bath), The medici Gallery (London), Th Marie Jordon Gallery (Wakefield), The Royal Academy (London), Casa Pupo Art Gallery (London).

Helen Eltis’ Work is in the private collection of the Queen’s cousin The Duke of Norfolk. Her water colours have been published by Christie’s Contemporary Art, The Medici, Aries Desings, Elgin Court.

In 1989 Helen left England to live in the British Virgin Islands, attracted by the profound beauty of the Caribbean, she and he family now live between the island of St John, USVI and the Mountains of Costa Rica where she continues to be inspired by their natural beauty.

In 2000-2011 Helen Eltis has completed various commissions in Colorado and Virgin including a Mural for the Catholic Church.

Fashion.

Helen Eltis is launching a new fashion line with her daughter, singer Elspeth Rose of “ The Awe Kids”. The new will consist of high end limited edition clothes and leather hand bags. Made in Costa Rica the line called “ Elspeth Rose” will be available to purchase in London and St Barths.

 

Paintings

Helen Eltis has recebtly completed a collection of Floral water colors painted in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. One pf the paintings has recently been purchased by Tracy Anderson, Venice Beach, California. Helen’s work is presently showing at the Banzaf Gallery, St John U.S Virgin Islands.
